Mrs. Bessie Calabria, a β-thalassaemia major patient, university graduate, experienced corporate leader, and thalassaemia advocate, currently lives in Toronto, Canada, with her family.
With over 25 years in the financial services sector, Bessie has led large teams and played a crucial role in devising and implementing strategies. Her duties encompass driving revenue growth, cultivating client and partner relationships, managing project delivery, supervising budgets, governing activities, and offering executive and board-level reporting.
Bessie served as a volunteer member of the Thalassaemia Foundation of Canada’s Board of Directors for more than 17 years, holding the positions of Trustee, Vice-President, and, most recently, President.
Her fervent passions include patient advocacy and raising awareness. Actively organizing, contributing to, and participating in numerous international, national, and local conferences and events, Bessie is highly respected for her expertise in thalassaemia, financial acumen, and public speaking abilities.
