The Thalassaemia International Federation (TIF), in close collaboration with the Greek Thalassaemia Federation (EOTHA) and under the auspices of the Ministry of Health of Greece, announces the organisation of the 1st TIF Nursing Workshop on Haemoglobinopathies in Athens, Greece.
📌 Workshop Title: 1st TIF Nursing Workshop on Haemoglobinopathies
📌 Date & Venue: Saturday & Sunday, 29-30 November 2025 | Titania Hotel, Athens, Greece
Overview:
This landmark workshop represents a substantial addition to TIF’s internationally recognised educational programme. Designed specifically for nursing professionals involved in the care of patients with Thalassaemia, Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), and other Haemoglobinopathies, the event aims to strengthen knowledge, enhance clinical competencies, and promote the essential role nurses play in ensuring safe, effective, and compassionate care.
As key members of multidisciplinary teams, nurses are often the primary point of contact for patients and families, contributing significantly to treatment adherence, psychosocial well-being, and overall health outcomes.
Objectives:
Through expert-led sessions, interactive discussions, and skills-focused presentations, the Workshop will:
◆ Facilitate knowledge exchange on current best practices in the management of haemoglobinopathies
◆ Enhance clinical and psychosocial care skills for nursing professionals
◆ Highlight the critical contribution of nurses in improving patient outcomes and quality of life
◆ Promote the empowerment and ongoing professional development of nurses working in specialised haemoglobinopathy settings
Presentation of the Updated TIF Nurses Guide:
The event coincides with the release of the newly updated edition of TIF’s flagship publication,
“A Guide for the Haemoglobinopathy Nurse”—a comprehensive resource supporting clinical practice, psychosocial care, and patient empowerment.
During the Workshop, the Greek-language edition of the Guide will be formally presented and disseminated to participants. Additional language versions are currently in development and will be released in the coming months.
