This webinar will focus on iron toxicity and its management in patients with hemoglobinopathies, the cumulative effects of iron overload, essential and novel chelating options, and the critical role of regular monitoring in detecting existing complications and preventing future ones, with two key presentations by Prof. Thomas Coates, MD, Professor of Pediatrics and Pathology, Section Head of Hematology, Director of Sickle/Hemoglobinopathy Programme, Keck School of Medicine of USC, Los Angeles, US, and Prof. John Wood, MD, PhD, Professor of Pediatrics and Radiology, Keck School of Medicine of USC, Los Angeles, US.
The expert panel is complemented by Mrs. Bessie Calabria, TIF Board Member and Patient Advocate, Canada, Dr. Sandra Regina Loggetto, Paediatric Haematologist, Medical Director, Transfusion Outpatient Center for Hemoglobinopathies, Sao Paulo Blood Bank, Brazil, and Dr. Niall Leelah, Member of the Trinidad and Tobago Society for Haematology and Blood Transfusion (TTSHBT) and Chairman of the Hospital Transfusion Committee, General Hospital Port of Spain.

The Thalassaemia International Federation (TIF) has made a pivotal move to enhance the care and awareness of haemoglobin disorders in the Americas by launching the Pan American Network for Haemoglobin Disorders (PANHD).
This initiative aims to establish a comprehensive and unified platform that links patient associations, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders across the continent. By encouraging collaboration and enabling the sharing of knowledge and resources, the network aspires to improve the quality of care and support for individuals affected by these rare blood disorders.
