Catherine Skari was born in Athens, Greece. She graduated cum laude with a BA in Communication and Mass Media from Greece’s National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Her qualifications also include Master’s degrees in Media and Communication Studies from Malmö University, Sweden, and Italian Linguistics from the University of Milan, Italy.
She has led TIF’s communications since October 2018. Her remit covers the Federation’s website and social channels, press relations, newsletters and campaigns to raise awareness of thalassaemia. She also supports engagement with patients and stakeholders and contributes editorial input to the Executive Director’s speeches, statements and other communications. Her earlier career at Greece’s Mega Channel encompassed senior editing and broadcast journalism.
Her languages include English and Greek, alongside Spanish and Italian. She also has experience in Italian–Greek translation and is a certified Italian language tutor.
