INTERNATIONAL THALASSAEMIA DAY 2025 | Joint Statement by TIF & EBCOG

In honour of International Thalassaemia Day 2025, the Thalassaemia International Federation (TIF), in collaboration with the European Board and College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (EBCOG), proudly presents a Joint Statement calling for urgent, unified action to address the unmet needs of individuals living with thalassaemia worldwide.

Under this year’s powerful theme, “Together for Thalassaemia: Uniting Communities, Prioritizing Patients,” the statement underscores the pressing need for inclusive, patient-centred care and highlights the critical importance of education, prevention, and multidisciplinary collaboration—particularly in the fields of maternal and reproductive health.

With a strong emphasis on equity and the challenges faced by underserved populations, including migrants and women with thalassaemia, this joint declaration is a rallying cry to policymakers, healthcare professionals, and society at large: to listen, to act, and to stand in solidarity with those affected by this complex genetic disorder.

We invite you to read the full statement and join us in amplifying this call to action. Together, we can build a future where every person with thalassaemia receives the care, respect, and opportunities they deserve.
