Vasileios Dimos

Assistant Treasurer

Mr. Vasileios Dimos has resided in Thessaloniki, Greece, for over 20 years, where he works as a teacher. His journey as a founding and active member of the Arta Thalassaemia and Sickle Cell Disease Association began in 1986. He devoted himself to advocating for an organized Thalassaemia Unit, securing an adequate blood supply, and eradicating social discrimination and marginalization of thalassaemia patients in his hometown.

Since 1998, Mr. Dimos has been an active member of the Greek Thalassaemia Association in Thessaloniki. He has had the honor of being elected to the Administrative Council, where he served as Chairman for two decades. Moreover, since 2006, he has held a position on the Board of the National Confederation of People with Disabilities, and since 2017, he has been a Member of TIF’s Patient Advocacy Group (T-PAG).

During 2009-2013 and 2017-2020, Mr. Dimos had the distinction of serving as President of the Greek Thalassaemia Federation. From 2016 to 2019, he held the position of President of the Regional Federation of People with Disabilities in Central Macedonia.

Mr. Dimos collaborates with the Greek Ministry of Health and Healthcare Districts to promote disease prevention, treatment, and free medical care services for patients. His fundamental goal is to champion blood sufficiency, safe transfusions, access to high-quality medical care for people with thalassaemia, implement a state-of-the-art treatment care system, enhance patients’ quality of life, and facilitate their social integration.
