TIF Collaborating Centres for Haemoglobinopathies
Improving Quality of Care for Haemoglobin Disorders Worldwide: A Long-Term Commitment of the Thalassaemia International Federation (TIF)

Many countries have centres labelled as “Thalassaemia Centres,” which can be nationally, EU, or self-assigned. These centres differ greatly in terms of expertise, services offered, patient numbers, and the level of support from national health authorities. Unfortunately, only a few have achieved international accreditation and recognition.
Recognizing the need for specialized medical expertise, the Thalassaemia International Federation (TIF) is initiating a project to establish a network of TIF Collaborating Centres.
These centres will offer educational opportunities such as TIF’s Renzo Galanello Fellowship, already available at UCLH, UK, to both local and regional doctors who are working with or have an interest in haemoglobinopathies. Additionally, they will serve as a platform for networking and collaboration, enabling healthcare professionals to address complex cases more effectively and enhance patient outcomes.
