IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: TIF reschedules the International Thalassaemia Day 2020 Celebrations for the 8th of September due to coronavirus

Given the unprecedented global public health crisis brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, TIF announces that the celebrations of the International Thalassaemia Day 2020 on the 8th of May, including all the Federation’s activities that were initially programmed, are rescheduled for Monday, 8 September 2020.
TIF strongly urges its members and the global thalassaemia patient community NOT TO CARRY OUT OR ENGAGE IN ANY KIND OF ACTIVITY/EVENT THAT REQUIRES PHYSICAL PRESENCE, for the International Thalassaemia Day 2020 on the 8th of May.
ENSURING PATIENTS’, AS WELL AS EVERY OTHER INDIVIDUAL’S SAFETY, IS OUR TOP PRIORITY AMID THE COVID-19 OUTBREAK!
On the 8th of May, TIF WILL CONDUCT EXCLUSIVELY ONLINE ACTIVITIES, focused on the dissemination of useful information with regards to (a) thalassaemia, through awareness-raising material, and (b) the COVID-19 global situation and its impact on thalassaemia patients.
We are asking everyone to stay home, maintain social distancing rules, and strictly follow the measures and guidelines of their national governments and health authorities about COVID-19.
