RARE ANAEMIAS | RAIN Publishes EHA 2026 Research Highlights

The Rare Anaemias International Network (RAIN), powered by TIF, has released a new report summarising key research developments in rare anaemias presented at EHA 2026.

Compiled by TIF’s Medical Advisor Dr. Michael Angastiniotis, and TIF’s Deputy Director, Ms. Lily Cannon, the publication offers a clear, patient-focused overview of recent developments across a broad spectrum of rare anaemias, including paroxysmal nocturnal haemoglobinuria (PNH), aplastic and Fanconi anaemias, pyruvate kinase deficiency (PKD), autoimmune haemolytic anaemias, cold agglutinin disease (CAD), congenital dyserythropoietic anaemia (CDA), Diamond-Blackfan anaemia syndrome and primary chronic neutropenia.

The report highlights encouraging progress in therapies that may improve haemoglobin levels, reduce transfusion requirements and fatigue, and lessen the practical burden of long-term treatment. It also explores emerging gene and mRNA-based approaches, the value of genetic and immune profiling, and the growing importance of treatment choices that reflect patients’ individual needs, preferences and quality of life.

By translating complex scientific findings into accessible language, the report aims to help patients, families, advocates and healthcare professionals better understand the latest advances and their potential relevance to the future of rare anaemia care.
