Thalassemia Taught Me About Perseverance and Career Success
Patient
Bangladesh
During my school years, I regularly felt unwell, often returning home with a sense of overwhelming weakness and paleness. A severe episode eventually landed me in the hospital, which commenced my ongoing need for regular blood transfusions.
In our community, awareness about my condition—thalassaemia—was non-existent. This experience motivated a promise to myself: I would dedicate my career to helping those with this disease.
Currently, I’m in my fifth semester at the International Islamic University Chittagong’s Pharmacy Department. My commitment to my pledge is as strong as ever, evidenced by my active engagement in thalassemia research as I work towards completing my studies.
