Michele Maalouli Abi Saad

Mrs. Michele Maalouli Abi Saad pursued her education at the American University of Beirut (AUB) in Lebanon, earning a B.S. in Medical Laboratory Technology in 1988, followed by a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) concentrating in Health Services Administration in 1990. She underwent a Residency in Health Services Administration at AUB from 1989-1990 and completed a Fellowship in the same field at Henry Ford Health Systems in Michigan, USA, from 1991 to 1992.

In 1994, she became the Administrative Director of the Chronic Care Center (CCC), a position she continues to hold today. The CCC is Lebanon’s only specialized institution for treating Thalassaemia and Type 1 Diabetes. A key participant in the ongoing National Prevention Program for Thalassaemia initiated by the CCC and the Ministry of Social Affairs in 1994, Mrs. Abi Saad has a vested interest in organizing disease-specific associations and developing prevention and management strategies for haemoglobinopathies.

Representing the Center internationally, she engages with the Thalassaemia International Federation (TIF), the International Diabetes Federation, and the UN Global Compact Network in Lebanon. Mrs. Abi Saad is a founding member of TIF’s Arab Thalassaemia Associations and serves on both TIF’s board and ISPOR Lebanon chapter board (Professional Society for Health Economics and Research Outcomes).
