The Thalassaemia International Federation (TIF) is excited to announce the launch of a new webinar series on EU Health Policy and Haemoglobinopathies.
Designed for patients and their families, these webinars aim to foster national advocacy for the improvement of service delivery. The series will encompass all EU legislative files directly or indirectly related to thalassaemia, sickle cell disease (SCD), and other haemoglobin disorders.
About the 1st Webinar – Focus on Blood Safety and Availability
Scheduled for Thursday, 21 September 2023, 14:00 CEST, the first webinar will focus on blood safety and availability.
This comes at a crucial time with the revision of the outdated legislation on blood, tissues, and cells and the Commission’s proposal for a future-proof regulation. The new regulation will better protect transfusion-dependent patients and introduce innovations within the EU blood ecosystem, including mandatory oversight of blood establishments and an EU alert system for blood shortages.
