Pancyprian Thalassaemia Conference 2020

Τhe Pancyprian Thalassaemia Conference 2020 was successfully held on Saturday, 26 September, to discuss the modern scientific and other developments concerning thalassemia in Cyprus and worldwide.

As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the Conference took place virtually. The speakers were distinguished experts in the field of thalassaemia and haemoglobin disorders from Cyprus, Greece and England, most of whom made their presentations online.

The Minister of Health of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Konstantinos Ioannou, and the Minister of Labour and Social Insurance, Mrs. Zeta Aimilianidou, shared their recorded video messages with participants, in which they reaffirmed their unwavering support towards upgrading the quality of services offered to patients with the disease at a national level.

The President of the Pancyprian Thalassaemia Association, Mr. Miltos Miltiadous, presented in detail the latest activities of the Association. The reaction of the thalassemia community to the pandemic, the developing National Thalassaemia Strategy, and other issues of importance to the thalassaemia patients´community were also discussed.
