High-Level Thalassaemia & SCD Healthcare Professionals Summit | 1 & 2 November 2019

After the successful Capacity Building Workshop for Patient Organizations & Patients with thalassaemia in Hamburg, Germany, TIF will be traveling to Thessaloniki, Greece for a High-Level Thalassaemia & Sickle Cell Disease Healthcare Professionals’ Summit, to be held on 1-2 November 2019.

Seeking to inform the healthcare community working in Europe about the optimal multidisciplinary care required by patients with thalassaemia and sickle cell disease, this Summit will bring together some of the most prominent scientific personalities active in the field of haemoglobinopathies from both the Greek and international medical community, as well as 30 healthcare professionals from France, Germany, Sweden and Austria – countries which have seen a huge rise in patients with thalassaemia and sickle cell disease in the last decade due to the migration flows from high prevalent areas of the world, such as Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Tunisia, Libya, etc.

In the context of the Summit, key issues related to thalassaemia and SCD, such as their optimal clinical management, existing challenges and the significant research progress made in their care and treatment, the provision of quality health services to patients through the European Reference Networks (ERN’s), will be highlighted and extensively discussed.

The High-level Summit is organized by TIF in collaboration with the Greek Thalassaemia Association (ESTHA) and under the auspices of the Greek Thalassaemia Federation (EOTHA).
