The Event aspires to fulfil the following objectives:
- To formally launch this innovative e-course, developed by a group of international medical experts in the field of sickle cell disease (SCD), which we hope will contribute to the lifelong learning of healthcare professionals caring for people with SCD
- To convey the added value of such an e-course to healthcare professionals around the world, as part of their continuous acquisition of knowledge and expertise in best practices for disease-management
- To provide an opportunity for participants to familiarize themselves with the e-course features, through a navigation session.

About the Course:
Renown for the provision of quality educational programmes of both patients and healthcare professionals, TIF launched its TIF e-Academy in 2017 with the purpose of providing current, verified information to patients and healthcare professionals all over the world. A first course of TIF e-Academy was developed for patients with thalassaemia (Thal e-Course), and a second course (eThalEd) was developed for medical specialists treating patients with thalassaemia.
The online SCD Course for HCPs is TIF e-Academy’s third course with a relevant patient course also coming soon. All courses on TIF e-Academy are free and available to all healthcare professionals and patients though a simple and free registration process. Certificates are provided to all persons who successfully complete the SCD e-course.
The SCD e-course has been reviewed and endorsed by the European Hematology Association (EHA).
