In an effort to assist national blood services in the development of plans to respond to any emerging infectious threats, as far as the sufficiency or safety of the blood supply are concerned, the World Health Organisation (WHO) produced in 2019 a special document, which discusses the elements that would need to be considered by national blood services and provides guidance on different response options that may be available.
Among the authors of this document is TIF’s Executive Director, Dr Androulla Eleftheriou!
