The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued updated information for blood establishments regarding the ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and blood donations.
To date, there have been no reported cases of transfusion-transmitted coronavirus, including severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The FDA does not recommend using COVID-19 laboratory tests to screen routine blood donors.
