The Greek Thalassaemia Federation Hosts Its Annual Educational Conference on September 20-22

The Greek Thalassaemia Federation (EOTHA), faithful to its annual appointment with patients and specialists in the field of thalassaemia, will host the 2019 Educational Conference on September 20-22, 2019 in Ioannina, Greece.


 

The event attracts the interest of a significant number of patients with thalassaemia and sickle cell anaemia (SCD)  from all over Greece and Cyprus and, according to pre-registration data, the number of participants is already over 500.

In this context, distinguished speakers from Greek Universities, medical specialists and patients with thalassaemia and SCD and will present and discuss the latest medical and scientific data in these fields.

The main objective of the scientific program is to inform and train patients on issues related to those diseases, facilitating their direct communication with the attending physicians. Issues such as cardiological complications, gene therapy, chelation therapy, chronic complications monitoring, new thalassemia drugs and many other interesting topics will be the focus of the numerous presentations.

The event is under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Health, the Greek National Blood Donation Center and the Greek National Confederation of People with Disabilities , the University of Ioannina and the  Thalassemia International Federation, which will be represented by Mrs. Elena Mylona, TIF BOD Member.
