Blood Supply Challenges & Transfusion Care of Patients With Haemoglobinopathies During COVID-19 Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on blood supply in several countries, jeopardizing the already demanding and often suboptimal care for haemoglobinopathies patients, mainly in developing and low-income countries with limited resources.

How does this affect patients are what are the pertaining challenges we need to overcome? These and other interesting issues are highlighted in a recent article by Dr Arwa Z. Al-Riyami, MD and Dr Shahina Daar, MD, published in the Annals of Blood Journal.
