International Thalassaemia Conference 2019 in Bangladesh

The city of Dhaka, Bangladesh hosted on January 28 – 31, 2019 the “International Thalassaemia Conference 2019”, gathering researchers, doctors, and patients with thalassaemia from many countries.

The aim of the Conference was to improve the overall management of the disease in Bangladesh, through the constructive exchange of views of the international and national experts on thalassaemia, and to offer training to local clinicians on how to deal more efficiently with the disease.

TIF was represented by Dr. Paul Telfer, and Dr. Mary Petrou from London, whilst among the honourable guests were also Dr. Maitreyee Bhattacharya from India, professor Ann Dalton London and Dr. Nur Mohammad, Line Director, NCDC, Director General of Health Service.

During the International Workshop on Management & Prevention of Thalassaemia, conducted in the context of the International Conference, Dr. Paul Telfer, Dr Mary Petrou, and Dr. Maitreyee Bhattacharya also visited the ‚Lab One Foundation of Thalassaemia‘ in Dhaka.
