TIF Proudly Supports World Blood Donor Day 2021

June 14 marks World Blood Donor Day 2021.

World Blood Donor Day (WBDD) is a very special occasion dedicated to raising global awareness about the insurmountable value of voluntary, non-remunerated blood donation, and the need for safe, quality-assured and sufficient blood for those who need it. In addition, World Blood Donor Day constitutes a great opportunity to thank blood donors everywhere in the world for selflessly offering the gift of life to all those in need, including multi-transfused patients with thalassaemia!

For 2021, the WBDD slogan is “Give blood and keep the world beating”. The message highlights the essential contribution blood donors make to keeping the world pulsating by saving lives and improving others’ health.

TIF´s Activities for World Blood Donor Day 2021:

The Thalassaemia International Federation (TIF) celebrates WBDD 2021 and proudly recognises the essential role volunteer blood donors play in saving millions of people every year, including patients with life-threatening conditions, such as thalassaemia and other haemoglobin disorders, who rely on regular blood transfusions for their survival and well-being.

To this end, TIF has prepared a dedicated statement for WBDD, along with several materials and online activities that will culminate on Monday, 14 June 2021!
